Dan Houseal – Founder & President

Dan began his career in 1995 as a part time as a plumbing excavator while attending Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (CTC) graduating in 1997. After working for several companies as an apprentice, foreman and superintendent Dan founded Houseal Plumbing in 2005 and shortly thereafter earned his Pennsylvania Master Plumbers license in 2006. With Dan’s guidance in the field and in the office Houseal Plumbing has grown in volume and reputation.

Dan has been a local volunteer fireman for over two decades and is currently the Deputy Chief in the East Donegal Township Fire Department he also volunteers his time to mentor the next generation of local plumbing professionals.

Charity is a big part of company culture and those efforts are spearheaded by Dan. Toy’s for Tots, Schreiber Children’s Hospital and many local athletic teams and organizations are just some ways Dan gives back to support the surrounding communities.

In his spare time Dan enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with his wife and three children..

Sean Kavanaugh – Vice President

Sean grew up on the Southside of Chicago and at 9 years old began accompanying his father on side jobs. His father Arthur Kavanaugh was the president of the famous T.H. Litvin Plumbing Company in Chicago and is still active in the Chicagoland plumbing industry logging in 50 years as a Local 130 plumber and estimator.

In 1993 After college Sean began working for Litvin Plumbing in the accounting department and shortly thereafter took a position as their Purchasing Agent overseeing a 10 – 12 million dollar per year material budget.

In 1997 Kavanaugh Plumbing Co., Inc was founded with Arthur as the president and Sean serving as the company’s vice president. At the same time Sean began serving a 5-year apprenticeship with Chicago Journeymen’s Local 130, U.A. Kavanaugh Plumbing was a diversified company performing projects from $1K to $1 million in commercial, industrial and institutional plumbing. Due to the economic downturn the company closed in 2012 after a 16-year run.

In 2009 Sean founded theplumbinginfo.com a plumbing only informational website specifically designed for the consumer and professional alike. In grew to become the most read plumbing only website in the U.S. seeing over 100K monthly visits. This led to developing print ads for Hansgrohe and doing guest spots as a plumbing advisor on the Giuliana and Bill show.

Member of the 1986, 1987 and 1988 nationally ranked Mt. Carmel High School of Chicago wrestling team, Assistant varsity Coach for 1993 and 1994 Back-to-Back state champion Mt. Carmel High School wrestling team.

Sean joined Houseal Plumbing full-time in 2020 as their lead estimator and was promoted to vice president later that year. He still oversees all commercial estimating as well as business operations. In his spare time Sean enjoys reading, high school/college wrestling, football, weightlifting and hanging out with his wife Cathy, his daughter Keegan and son Quinn.

Edward Papp – Residential/Commercial Service Manager

Eddie was born and raised in Ridley Park, PA, in Delaware County. He developed a keen interest in plumbing at a young age, as his childhood home underwent restoration to preserve its historic value. Eddie found himself captivated by the plumbing contractor who tirelessly worked on the old piping systems and bathrooms, sparking his fascination with the trade. Determined to turn his passion into a career, he enrolled in Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology’s plumbing program and graduated with an Associate’s
Degree in 2005.

After completing his education, Eddie landed a position at the esteemed Lancaster- based firm, Frey Lutz. He spent three years working in the commercial new construction sector, where he honed his skills and successfully completed his apprenticeship. However, Eddie’s desire to broaden his expertise and indulge his passion for renovating older homes led him to make a bold career move. He accepted a job in residential service and, along with his future wife, Lauren, relocated to Lancaster County.

For the past three years, Eddie has been an integral part of the Houseal Plumbing team. Joining as a residential plumber, he quickly impressed with his extensive knowledge and commitment to customer satisfaction. As a result, he was promoted to the position of Service Manager. With over 20 years of plumbing experience under his belt, Eddie plays an active role in the ongoing education of the company’s plumbing staff. He also serves as the point person with ABC Keystone, fostering professional relationships and staying updated on industry advancements.

Outside of work, Eddie enjoys indulging in various hobbies. He finds solace in working in his garden and undertaking small projects around his home. Spending quality time with his wife and family brings him immense joy, and he often takes the opportunity to showcase his grilling and BBQ skills during gatherings. When seeking relaxation, Eddie can be found by the lake, accompanied by his beloved dogs.

With his unwavering passion for plumbing, extensive expertise, and dedication to exceptional service, Eddie embodies the Houseal Plumbing ethos. Clients can rely on him to address their plumbing needs with precision, ensuring their homes are not only functional but also beautifully maintained.

Scott Mackison – Commercial Plumbing Superintendent

Scott was born and raised in Columbia PA and graduated from Columbia H.S. in 1986. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country.

After his stint with the Air Force Scott began his career in plumbing becoming an apprentice with George Heistand Plumbing from his home town of Columbia PA. Shortly thereafter Heistand Plumbing moved out of state to Florida.

In 1992 he was then hired by the Lancaster area legacy firm of Frey Lutz where he completed his apprenticeship and served as a journeyman and foreman for the better part of two decades before leaving to become the maintenance supervisor at the Manheim Area Sewer and Water Authority.

In May of 2021 Scott found his true calling excepting a position as commercial plumbing superintendent for Houseal Plumbing. Scott has many responsibilities but primarily he oversees all field personnel for the commercial plumbing division.

Giving back to the community is also deeply important to Scott as he is heavily involved with numerous veterans’ organizations including the Maytown American Legion where he’s served as Commander for 20-years. He is also part of the Maytown Civic Association, past president of the Donegal Midget Football program and he has also served on the board for the Susquehanna stage company in Marietta.

Scott now resides in Maytown with his wife Colleen and their two children, daughter Morgan and son Jered.

Cody Hufford – Plumbing Estimator & Project Manager

Cody was born and raised in Lancaster County. From birth he was exposed to the mechanical trades. His father is a commercial electrician, his uncle, a controls electrician, another uncle being a home builder supervisor and his grandfather was a Peterbilt mechanic.

Cody graduated from Lancaster Christian School as well as the Protective Services Academy of LCCTC with desires of a public service career, despite his skilled trade family history. Upon graduation he began a career in EMS. This continued until 2017 when he made the decision to forge a new future with better earning opportunity and a better home life for his wife and daughter.

With no training or experience, he was given the opportunity to begin as an apprentice with EH Gochnauer and Sons. From here he learned the trades as a commercial plumber from the ground up. He enjoyed this profession and continued to learn. EH Gochnauer was purchased by Triangle Refrigeration and his training continued. While working with Triangle, he was promoted to site foreman thanks to a supportive leadership team.

In June of 2021, Cody was hired by Housel Plumbing as a commercial foreman. Shortly after working for Houseal Plumbing, it was observed that Cody had developed a strong ability to read and understand blueprints as well as the intricacies of job management. Cody was then offered the position of estimator and project manager.

Cody has not only been successful in helping commercial customers both large and small complete their bid process but completing their jobs in a timely, safe and profitable manor. In his spare time Cody enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, camping, hunting and volunteering with Rothsville Volunteer Fire Company EMS.
